Who are we?

The Devon County Teachers’ Association is a Division within the national structure of the National Union of Teachers and it represents NUT members within Devon.
Devon NUT and the Division are part of the South West Region (Region 7) and the Regional Office is based in Exeter. Local Division Officers are also based in Devon.

When do we meet?

The Association meets once each term at a General Meeting or the Annual General meeting to discuss both national and local issues relevant to members in Devon.

The General Committee meets some weeks before the General Meeting and oversees the running of the Association.

The Executive Committee meets to decide items for the Agenda for the General Committee

What do we do?

The Association provides support for members in schools and the central support services. Members are given advice and guidance when necessary and the Union represents them in matters relating to their professional and personal circumstances.
The Division organises the Union at a County Level, undertaking such tasks as liaison with other teacher unions.

What can we offer locally?

  • Representation of members interests with employers

  • Negotiations at national and local level on pay and conditions of service

  • Individual casework for members on professional and employment issues

  • Legal advice and assistance

  • Professional Development

  • Occupational insurance
